How the app-level passcode works

How to unlock the app

Once you set up a passcode, you must enter the passcode correctly in order to open the TrueContext Mobile App. After 10 failed attempts, the app prompts you to sign in.

Touch ID and Face ID for iOS and macOS

If Touch ID or Face ID are enabled on your device, you can use these as a way to unlock the app. First, set up your passcode, and then select the Touch ID or Face ID option.

Windows and Android face or touch recognition

The Windows and Android Mobile Apps do not support face or touch recognition as alternatives to entering a passcode.

Option to delete local data

Local data includes all drafts, pending submissions, and settings, including the app-level passcode. You can set up the TrueContext Mobile App to delete local data after 10 failed passcode attempts. This option helps protect any sensitive company or customer data that you already entered in a form.

Warning:You can’t get the local data back once it’s deleted.

After 10 failed attempts to enter a passcode:

  • If the option to delete local data is on, you must sign in with your TrueContext username and password.

  • If the option to delete local data is off, you must sign in with your TrueContext password. The app remembers that you previously set up a passcode and prompts you to set up a new one.

Wait periods

The TrueContext Mobile App allows five passcode attempts before it applies a wait period and displays an alert.

The wait periods increase with each failed attempt:

Attempt number Wait period before next attempt
6 1 minute
7 5 minutes
8 15 minutes
9 1 hour

If you can’t wait until the tenth attempt, you can also uninstall and reinstall the app. Uninstalling the app permanently deletes all drafts, pending submissions, and settings, including the app-level passcode.

Warning:You can’t get the local data back once it’s deleted.
