Enforce a Device Passcode

Organizations typically require field users to enter a passcode or PIN to unlock their devices. If your organization doesn’t already enforce a device-level passcode, you can set this up at the team level in TrueContext. With a device passcode enforced, the TrueContext Mobile App prompts users to set a device-level passcode or PIN before they can open the app. This topic describes the steps to enforce a device passcode for your team.

How device passcode enforcement works

When you enforce a device passcode, users can’t open the TrueContext Mobile App until they set a device passcode, PIN, or screen lock. The app displays a message that prompts the user to set a device passcode.

Your Mobile Device Management (MDM) system may already enforce a device passcode. The TrueContext team-level setting doesn’t affect your users as long as the MDM enforcement remains in effect.

Info:Field users can also set an app-level passcode to increase their data security. The topic TrueContext Mobile App Passcode Lock describes the app-level passcode setting in more detail.

Steps to enforce a device passcode

  1. As a TrueContext Admin user, go to Team SettingsClosed The Team Settings page is the page where an admin can manage their team's account and edit certain information, such as assigning a Problem Contact Email Address, toggling push notifications, and viewing the account's billing information. > Mobile Device > Device Settings > Edit Device Settings.

  2. Select Mobile users must use a device passcode....

  3. Select Update.

Result: This setting takes effect the next time users reconcile. If a user hasn’t set a device passcode, PIN, or screen lock, the TrueContext Mobile App prompts them to set one. Once a user sets a passcode, they can open the Mobile App on their device.

Note:If you clear the device passcode setting, users can reconcile and then remove their device passcode.
